Reports to: Head Nurse Dept./School: As Assigned Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: Registered Nurse - $200/day
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for fulfilling the duties of the person that they are replacing. Only those substitutes who have received specific orientation in the district medication and special health care procedures by licensed district staff may administer medications or perform special health care procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Current licensure with the Texas State Board of Nursing required
- Experience in community health or school nursing preferred
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant, before continuing within the process towards possible employment.
EQUIPMENT USED: Thermometer; blood pressure cuff; audiometer, otoscope; sphygmomanometer; vision screening equipment; thermoscan; basic clinic equipment; telephone; computer and copier
WORKING CONDITIONS: MENTAL DEMANDS Ability to communicate effectively; interpret policy, procedures and data. Work multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Maintain emotional control under stress. Includes interaction with the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS Indoor temperature controlled environment; exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
